Meshta Ankarith

Well, it has been over three months since I last posted (and what a fantastic, thought-provoking and useful post that last one was). I think I put myself off by limiting to only one full post on the homepage, which made me feel like every post should be some sort of long article or thesis. I realise now that to me, opinion is only a tool in the search for truth. It is therefore in my nature to constantly disagree with myself for the purpose of testing ideas for falsifiability and inadequacy, so forming a strong opinion on any particular matter is not easy. Keeping an opinion long enough to write a whole post in support of it is almost unimaginable. So, the homepage situation has now been rectified, and my posting frequency may therefore increase, but expect smaller, less me-centric posts. Or not, as the case may be.

As a quick life update, I have been working full-time, nine-to-five (supposedly) for the past six months or so. I recently decided to move to four days a week, so that I could have more time for personal projects, but for the past five weeks I’ve been full-time again in order to finish a not-so-personal project. Yesterday was my first day off again, and it was rather enjoyable. I’m sure I’ll have more to say about work soon.

Curiously enough, I actually attended my five year high school reunion a couple of weeks ago. Believe it, ’cause it’s true. It was an… interesting event. Most of my closer friends didn’t show up, as expected, but it was good to catch up with a couple of people. Strange how people regress to old cliques and habits when surrounded by such ghosts of the past, long thought put to rest. The school has a lot of new buildings and equipment, including a huge recording studio (which would have been so very nice to have when I was there), but from what I hear, it’s not used very much. Music was always a strength of the school, but I don’t think it has quite the emphasis these days, unfortunately. Of course, I don’t really have reason to care anymore.

Speaking of music, I’ve finally started getting back into playing the Celtic/Folk stuff. I’m playing in a band along with my uncle and another friend, and we’ve also got a couple other people lined up to join us. I’ll be sure to post any gigs we have in case anyone is interested in seeing us, though such an event may not be soon.

You’ll probably recall my numerous posts on the MA engine that used to run this site. Well, in the past month I decided to retire that (since it was old and chunky and full of hacks) in favour of a shiny new system that is progressing well, especially since I have help on this one. There are also some other interesting projects starting up, which I may well elaborate upon at a later stage.

Well, I’ll leave it at that for now, and we’ll see what the future brings for the old island.
