One down, twelve to go
Uni week one over. Classes went well. Trying to extend my honours thesis due date: cross your fingers. Not much else.
So Week 1 of Uni for 2004 has finished.
My three labs went successfully, I think. The WWW Tech lab has only five students, so that’ll be nice and easy, I hope, though doubtless they’ll shift around some people and I’ll end up with a few more. The two Programming labs have about 16 in each, and from this week’s experience, all I can say is that I wish every student was a mature-age student.
The subjects I am taking will be interesting, though. The new 3D modelling for computer games unit looks like it will be enjoyable: it is mostly looking at techniques for 3D game modelling using 3DS Max. Internet Design is stuff that I know, and I hope I’ll be able to sail through it without much trouble. The Guided study unit I’m doing I haven’t started yet, but that should also be good.
I’m trying to extend the due date for my Honours thesis to the end of the year. I think I could get it done by June, but I think that it wouldn’t be as good as it could be. There may be some trouble getting this to happen, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed.
Everything else has taken a back seat this week. The only thing of note that I’ve done is to add more utilities to the http://eloqui.dyndns.org site, which won’t be visible to anyone that hasn’t a login, which is everyone but me, so you won’t be able to see it. But it now has a place for memos, and will soon hopefully have an RSS aggregator for my use.

I’ve begun moving the comments system into the Journal Archive, however some functionality is still missing. For example, when I submit this new comment, it will still send me to the comment.php page. Days with more than one article do not yet support comments. There are design issues to fix up. It does not display email or url links.
I have also added support for registered users to have avatars for thier comments. The avatar is 22×20 pixels, and is easily changeable.

Well, I am just adding a comment because I can. I like the login screen, and the way it resets every time I try and log in
I wonder if I have an avatar… I can’t see any admin page to change it though ..

Small problem…I couldn’t see my own comment???
Maybe it’s just me.
Btw, thanks for the avatar, it’s quite good

Yeah, as I said, some things aren’t working yet. The old comments page no longer actually shows the comments, but it does include the code that actually adds the comment to the database, so when you enter your comment in the Journal archive, it will still send you to the old comments page when you submit. This will change, eventually.
What’s the problem with the login screen, though?

Yay, I can almost change my avatar!!!
The login page at aelfwine is amusing because the page simply resets to blank whenever anything is tried.
I am also impressed at the usage of e–mail hiding
A simple solution to a simple problem

Teehee
Ahh… the edn login page, I thought you were talking about the MA login page. Well, only I have a user account for the edn page, simply because everything that would show up if anyone else had an account would still be inaccessible since I also use HTTP passwords on most of the stuff. There is a memo system, though, so you can log in now with the same user info as you have here. The links marked “private” will still be inaccessible.
Well, since your email address is stored in your user info, you don’t have to enter it when you comment. I’ve changed it for unregistered users such that their name will be linked to the URL they enter, or nothing. The email address is stored in the database, and I will probably make it visible only to registered users on the actual comment.

Oh yeah… the edn (or Aelfwine) page and this page (MA) are completely seperate as far as logging in is concerned, as you have no doubt noticed. When I get around to actually getting hosting and a domain, only MA will be there, not edn. edn is just for my benefit as a front page to my development server.

Ahh, I see…
I just tried the edn page, and es, I did try to log in as your logs will no doubt tell you.
I’m just reading up on your PHP linked manual. You really should add links like wotsit and tldp, cause they are bloody useful..

These links are mostly just for when I’m doing web development, and for that I don’t really need file types or linux help. If I’m so inclined, I may one day extend the link system to include categories and so forth such that it becomes like a portable bookmarking system, but that’s for the future :).

10 posts!! Dammit, I wrote this in the wrong topic the first time
Oh mighty moderator, please delete my silly 10 posts comment and keep this good one alive

Curses, oh master of meshta, why do you taunt me so by keeping my rather silly non–ten–post post in that other entry?
March 15th, 2004 at 12:11 pm
Because removing your comment would make my comment lose its humour. Also because I haven’t transferred the editing and deleting functions yet.

Fair enough I guess
Found the old comment yet?
