Six hours contact time for teaching. A free publication. Multiuser enabled MA. A new game idea.
Well, the shit has jumped a whole lot towards that fan. I have been allocated two two hour Java labs, and a two hour HTML/CSS/JavaScript lab. As much as I absolutely hate to say it, but *think of the money, think of the money*. Maybe having all this work to do will force me to actually do some.
It also appears that I’ll get a publication out of this work I’ve been doing on the OpenRTI, and I don’t even have to write the paper. Thanks, Shawn and Dave.
I’m slowly incorporating a multiuser system into this website, as evidenced by the new login form in the footer bar. There still isn’t much for users below admin level (there are three levels, god [me], admin, and normal). Admin level users can edit or delete comments. All registered users can currently modify the HistoryWiki, but that doesn’t seem appropriate to me at the moment. Perhaps in the future the multiuser system will be something more than just a novelty.
I’ve also decided to begin designing and creating a new game. It will be a MMO space sim/rpg, with the focus on ship operations and crews. I guess the audience will be those who enjoy things like Star Trek PBeMs. It will have a 3D client, and I may design an HLA based networking system for it. I haven’t sorted out all the details yet, but I guess I’ll keep adding them here as I come up with them.

I want a user account!!! WAAAH!!!
Hrmm, games eh…need a playtester??
Teaching should be pretty easy.
Oh and speaking of multiuser systems, shouldn’t you at least include a form–email system to protect e–mail addresses from bots??

Heh… there is an account for you now, with the same username and password as you had on my FTP server. You won’t see much difference, and the only thing you’ll be able to do is edit the HistoryWiki. I’ll trust you to not delete everything. Or enter any overly stupid things.
Playtester… well, I have to write the game first :).
I have added a warning to the comment form, since I can’t be bothered doing anything more interesting right now.

Yaaay! I have the ability to destroy this site
I haven’t done any editing, because, well that would be nasty.. Does multiuser stuff support mini–avatars (Ie, like the one on your comments?)
The warning was well headed, it reminds me of that episode of the simpsons where Groundskeeper willy saves everyone from falling down the well by putting up a sign.
I *hate* C++. It makes programming at a low level impossible. It doesn’t feel like programming, more like writing a script for a ten year old to follow if you leave him in a house by himself. Grrrr…
