Three days, one day… what’s the difference?
I have watched a lot of TTT in the last 30 hours. The extended version is the definitive version. I’m much more satisfied with the extended version compared to the theatrical version. Looking forward to ROTK.
In the last thirty hours or so I have watched the film, the writers/director and cast commentaries, and about eight hours of behind-the-scenes documentaries. I expect today I will have a rest, and leave the other two commentary tracks for later.
I have to say that I appreciate TTT more now than I did when I saw it in the cinema. I’m much less disappointed with the Faramir story and the Elves’ unexpected arrival at Helm’s Deep. I now understand why those decisions were made by the film makers, and I’m glad they were able to make decisions like that.
Once again, the 45 minutes of added scenes were excellent. I was particularly excited to see Denethor in a scene that also included Boromir and Faramir. Besides being great to see, it also set up the Faramir changes much better than the theatrical version did.
I can’t wait for December 26th.
